Chapter Chat

Kia Ora, I am back for this term and more fun things will happen including museum visits, more mulching and weeding at hamanatua, Going to the mural posts on our cycleway and many more things.

Today I am going to tell you what Chapter chat is and what we do for the activities. So for chapter chat many schools around New Zealand  read the same book then the answer at least 2 questions each week.

The book we are reading this term is called 'Fish in a Tree' by Linda Mullaly Hunt. The book is about a girl called Ally Nickerson who finds it hard to read and write. She is really good at drawing and has a book called 'The Sketch Book of Impossible Things'. In this book she has some pretty strange drawings like a dinosaur drinking coffee, a fish in a tree, a snowman in a furnas factory, a fish in a snorkel, her being smart and a man rowing a banana split boat down an ice cream Sunday river.

For the activities there are many different choices for what you can do. I chose to make a minecraft word for trents shop 'Nickerson Restoration' and to draw the sympathy card Ally Accidentally gave Mrs Hall at her baby shower.

Please Comment to help me improve.

Dressing in the dark!

For maths strand this week and last week we are working on probability. Probability is the number of ways of achieving success. For example the probability of flipping a coin and it landing on heads is ½ or 50% because there is one head and one tail. for our maths we used socks. Two purple socks and two blue socks. First we picked two socks out of a bag (all four socks were in the bag) and we were seeing what we would pick out an even pair or an odd pair. Here is a screencastify to explain a bit further.

So you are more likely to get an odd pair of socks!
 I hope you learned something!

Weeds Weeds and more Weeds

Te Kura Tuatahi o Wainui
Ko maunga roa te maunga
Ko te poho ō Rawiri te marae

Ko Hamanatua Te Awa

Kia Ora,
Today we went to the Hamanatua stream, our Awa, because we are the kaitiaki - guardians of the stream and needed to weed all of the fennel, nightshade and other weeds. Most of the kids from room 2 and 3 went up to the top and weeded the fennel by the plants that we planted in 2016. Two of the groups including my group went and weeded by the path next to the stream that we planted Harakeke by last year. It was hard work but in the end we were proud of our mahi.

Here are some Photos.

Highlights!

Highlights!

This year we have done lots of fun things.  Here are my two academic highs and two non academic highs. Also I will share my goal for next year. My two academic highs   are math's and blogging! I chose theses things because in maths i have improved a lot and in blogging I am getting alot better! My two non academic things are P.E and shadehouse. I chose them because in P.E i have learnt a lot of new games like coney Island and corner ball. I chose shade house because it was fun and I like gardening.  My goal for next year is to believe in myself and Try new things.
