Colouring on Canva

For manaiakalani this week we had to draw and image to do with ANZAC day using canva. I found it fun but it was hard to get a straight line. I liked blending the colours to create the sun set/rise effect. I hope you like it.

ANZAC Animation

For our cybersmart project this week we had to do an animation to do with war. I chose to do mine on Hester Maclean who is part of the NZANS (New Zealand Army Nursing Service). The start of the animation is about Hester and the rest (from the off to war part) is what I made up myself. I hope you enjoy the animation, please comment so that I can improve my work.

Terrific Term 4

This term has gone by really fast. Sadly it is my last term at Wainui Beach School. I am excited about going to intermediate but also nervous. We have done lots of interesting and fun things this term. I am going to share some of my favorite parts of this term with you.

I have made a slide to reflect this term.
Some of my favorite things include the road patrol reward day, kapa haka festival, intermediate visit, athletics and much more. I hope you enjoy the presentation...

Terrific Turanganui Festival

Last Wednesday our whole school went to the show grounds to take part in the Turanganui Kapa Haka Festival. When we first arrived we went and sat down to watch Wai syndicate. Wai was very loud and clear. I hoped we sounded the same.  The butterflies started swirling in my stomach as we started to get changed, into our pew pews.

As we walked up onto the stage and got into our starting positions, everything was silent and still, waiting for the strum of the guitar. Koka Sue started strumming and we moved forward into our pyramid. The rest of our songs including Haramai A Paoa, Ka Pioioi, Purianei, Utai Nga, The Haka, Wainui E and He Honore went by in a blur and suddenly it was all over.

As we chatted, laughed, got our photos taken and got out of our pew pews I thought back to how nervous I was before the performance and how it turned out I didn't need to be. On the bus back I smiled thinking I had done it and I was very proud of myself.

Ko Te Poho Rawiri Te Marae

Last week on Thursday Nui Syndicate went to the marae. Once everyone arrived we got welcomed into the marae by the tangata whenua in a powhiri. Then Papa Albie, Aunty Buba and Aunty Charlotte shared some stories with us about traditional maori history. After that we split up into our groups.  I was my groups leader. We then went to different rotations. The rotations were Kowhaiwhai and tukutuku pattern making, Maori games, Weaving, handball and skipping, Walking up Kati hill, Honga and String games.

My first rotation was the Kowhaiwhai and tukutuku pattern making. We had some wooden boards with the stencil of the pattern on it. We got some paper and put it on the board, we then lightly rubbed a crayon over top of it. I also did the Honga, Walk up Kaiti hill, Weaving and handball and skipping.
After our rotations we set up our beds and then retreated to the dining hall for dinner and dessert.

After dinner we went back to the wharenui and got ready for our performance. I was one of the welcomers for when the parents arrived for the performance. At the performance I performed in the kapa haka performance and ukulele. After the performance we all went to bed. After a unrestful and short nights sleep we got ready for the day. Around 10am we went to the wharenui and sat down ready to welcome Wai. After we welcomed Wai we id the rest of the activities. Then we caught the bus back to school and watched a relaxing movie. I will never forget this marae trip.

50 Minutes Later

Yesterday our school A1 soccer team went to compete for the Gillies Cup at Mangapapa school. I was one of the supporters along with 18 other kids who were lucky enough to watch the game. We made up a chant and every few minutes we would sing it. It went like this...

                                   "Shout shout let it all out Thunders gonna win no doubt.

                                                               WAINUI!!!!!!"  

We ended up having a chant off with Mangapapa. 

At half time the score was 2-0. The game in the second half was really good but it stayed down near there goal most of the time. It was action packed and we really wanted to win. Mangapapa have had the Gille's Cup 7 years in a row and we have never had it. Then 50 minutes later... Beeeeep. We had won!! 5-0 We were cheering so loud it was deafening.
